The Colors... What do They Mean?

Green, Yellow, and red. We see the colors all over everything related to Rastafarian culture, but what do they mean?

Green, the top color, represents the beauty of the vegetation of Ethiopia. Many consider Ethiopia, the promised land. Many people believe the beginning of all life started in Ethiopia.

Yellow, the middle color, is representative of the wealth of the home land. This particularly refers to the gold in Africa. 

Red, the last color , represents the blood that has been shed by all our black brothers and sisters who have been fighting for black liberation, equality, and justice all over the world.

These colors are representative of a long, and rich history of kings, queens, political leaders, and heroes. This is why they are used to represent Rastafarian culture.
